Almost home...
Hey all,
Well, finally got back to Minneapolis after Jon (Milwaukee FDM) let Racheal and I go early this morning. So, Rach and I took 15 minutes to finish packing and get the hell out of dodge. 'Course, on the way here, we stopped at the Target in Hudson, WI, where I nearly got Danielle a Minnesota Wild CCM hockey jersey, but passed on it. So, Rach & I hit the Mall of America, as Rach wanted to hit FYE to attempt to finish up her Tenchi Muyo (original) OVA DVD set, which she's now down to one volume. Considering in Eau Claire, she dropped $71 (GunXSword 1, Mermaid's Forest 1, Barefoot Gen 1/2 movies, and Tenchi OVA v2 new/v4 used), at the Mall of America, she toasted $107 with the new Funimation B1G1F sale (the Slayers Next & Try seasons, Tenchi v3, and I think the remainder of Mermaid's Forest).
After we split up to look around (and for me to find Danielle's surprise), I snagged her surprise with some further Colts Super Bowl win stuff at the Fan Store. Would've gotten her a Francisco Liriano t-shirt jersey, but oddly, no place in the mall had 'em. Nearly got a Twins Torii Hunter or Johan Santana t-shirt jersey from my fave sports shop (Pro-Image), but passed. She's lucky I had just enough room in my suitcases for her stuff. :)
Speaking of Danielle, 'bout an hour ago (9pm CDT), she called in a really frantic state. She was in a really scary hit-and-run accident. Needless to say, if she didn't stomp on the gas, the idiot white truck who hit-and-ran her would've t-boned her Cavalier, probably killing her mom in the passenger seat and hurting Dani a lot. So, her mom and her (especially Dani) are shaken up pretty bad, as Dani at the beginning of the phone call was in near-hysterics. As for her Cavalier, sounds like the rear passenger panel & tail-light fixture are toast. The car's drivable...just a hole in the rear panel, discoloration from where the a-hole hit her and ran. After awhile, she calmed down, wanting me home there and now, but as long as I don't have any flight delays, I'll be joining her to drop her car off at her insurance's repair place/picking up her replacement rental car, and we'll be spending the rest of the day together.
Frank and I just went out in the slush/snowy blizzard mess to find a Taco Bell (only to find out it wasn't there), and settled on Applebee's, where I had their new chop steak meal. Yummy. However, I'd hate to be around Frank when he's driving NORMALLY in snow like this. He was driving "slow" because I was in the passenger seat. It's bad enough my girlfriend nearly gets killed....now I have to worry about myself!
More later,
Matt
